Mixed Media Watch Box for Artful Days

Hello Crafty Friends,

Today I have my first project for Artful Days. I'm so excited to be a part of this wonderfully talented team and I simply adore the products from the store.

I altered this MDF box into a Mixed Media Watch Box. I have used a lot of Artful Days products and Finnabair products to make this.

It was a bit tricky to capture this piece in my camera as the colors are changing with the mood of light. But I loved this chiaroscuro effect here...

Shabby Altered Jewelry Box

Hello Crafty Friends,

A very good morning to all of you. I'm Priya again with a photo inspiration post. This time I transformed a boring box into an interesting shabby chic jewelry box.

The box I used is a drawer box and is beautiful inside. I just cut some pattern paper according to the dimensions and glued on it. So, here's the box I altered...

I cut the pattern papers according to desired measurements, distresssed the edges and glued on all sides of the box. Then I adhered some pearl string and rhinestone string on the top cover of the box. also some strings on the front opening of it. Then I adhered a beautiful leaf pattern lace on the top cover and attached a mandala die cut, some flowers, pearl stickers, twines and some more lace to decorate it.

Supplies Used:

Cardboard Box
Martha Stewart Score Board
Guillotine Paper Trimmer
Scissors
Eno greeting Pattern Paper
Papericious Lace
Twines
Tacky Glue
Distress Ink
Double sided Foam Tape
Chipboards
Flowers
Paper Flowers
Diecut
Pearl String
Rhinestone String

Mixed media Altered Box for Scrappin 4 fun

Hello Friends,

Hope you are doing fine. We were experiencing flood like situation here in Mumbai with heavy rainfall and crazy wind. But people have learnt from the past and didn't take the risk of going out in water which is the best part. The school holidays extended that means no time for crafting and just playing whole day with my kiddo...

Amidst all this I take out time late at night to play with my scraps and today I am here with one of my already favorite altered art for Scrapping4funchallenges Blog. IThis is my first DT post for the challenge blog and I'm very excited to join the talented team. The theme this month is "Different Techniques" so I chose a Cell Phone box to alter and I used Stenciling, layering, Inking, dry brushing in the project.

For my box, I gave a coat of gesso then a scripture stencil. I used corrugated sheet, jute cord, art stones, net and chippies to create texture.
I altered this box.

For coloring I used spray inks and chalk paint. I did dry brushing with gesso once I was satisfied with the coloring part.I used sea shells, Flowers, a metal clock, few pearls and beads here and there for embellishment. I did the same for the sides of the box as well some stenciling and paints.
for the bottom part, I only colored that after giving a coat of gesso. Some more pics ...

Altered Project : Shadow Box

Hello Friends,

Today I'm sharing an altered Cardboard Biscuit box into a Shadow box which I made for few challenges. I thought of making a fairy with jungle theme. So I cut out a square from the front of the box and covered it with tissue and some texture paste and gel medium to create some effect on the front. Then added some patterned paper for the background, added some texture paste with stencil on all sides of the box for a brick effect. Added twigs, 3d stickers and a handmade clay fairy sitting on a stone. Colored to give a jungle look.

Here is the box

And I altered it into a shadow box as below...

Tim Holtz Brick Stencil

Mixed Media Altered Box

Hello Friends...
I'm back today with my first mixed media altered project.
I have altered a gift box which I have kept since long for some experiment like this. I am very new to mixed media and I have never tried so much of layering before on my projects.
So let's take a look...

It's always fun to try something new and I was really excited to alter this one...
First I applied a coat of gesso on the lid of the box. With the help of stencils and texture paste I created the designs on it. after it was partially dry I applied a coat of crackle paste. Once it was half dried I applied another thick coat of the crackle paste. This really looks fabulous and gives this rough and old look to it.

Then I started coloring. First I applied a coat of black acrylic paint all over and once it is dried I cleaned the surface with a wet cloth. Then I applied turquoise blue metallic paint and golden metallic paint alternatively with dry brush technique. Then I added some small stones which I collected from the sea-shore on our recent holiday and colored them too with green acrylic paint and then dry brushed with golden. Then I applied gesso on some chipboards and once these dried colored and glued on the box. I also adhered 3 metal dragonfly and a tag which I distressed at the edges and adhered on a chipboard.
Finally I added some rhinestones here and there for some bling.

For the box I glued some tissue on the outer body and colored with black acrylic paint. Once that dried I dry brushed it with turquoise blue and golden metallic colors for the same effect as the lid.

Some more pics of the box...

The Crackle paste effect

I'll keep my travel album inside this.

Supplies Used:
Cardborad Box
Gesso
TimHoltz Flourish Stencil
The Crafters Workshop Mini Art Stencil
Ranger Crackle Paste
Acrylic Paint ( Black, Green)
Metallic Paint ( Turquoise Blue and Gold)
Papericious Chippies
Metal embelishments
Stones
Rhinestones
Tissue Paper
